Buried Talent.
Perhaps the greatest contemporary educationalist is Sir Ken Robinson, who sadly died in 2020. There are many clips of Ken online, but this 15 minute clip, from 2014 recently caught our eye.
Ken talks about how, for young people, talent is very often buried. And that it is the responsibility of the adults around them to help unearth this talent. Via conversation and proper engagement. Another theme is how serendipity shapes us all. Meeting people in real life. Bumping into each other by chance, and seeing what happens.
These things, and more, are of course curtailed when mobile phones are too present. And that's a real shame.
And one final thing... instead of blaming young people for being on their phones too much. Maybe adults can be much better at creating conversation and proper engagement as an alternative. Just a thought...
