Back to Basics.
Hello there. 'Sari's Field Notes' is my diary. I'll let you know how MindUnwired and Piilo are developing - as things happen. Also, my Field Notes are personal observations and reflections about the challenges and learnings with our current digital world. This 30 second read considers life basics - and asks you to do that too. Because there is magic in the basics.
I'm Finnish as many of you know. And as I write, I am at home in Finland.
When there are too many distractions swirling around, keeping my focus on what truly matters becomes a real struggle. It starts to impact my executive functions and I start to multitask, making everything feel sticky and difficult. Sleep suffers, and the spiral deepens. Time vanishes, too.
In times like that, I must hit the pause button and focus on quieting my mind. Everything else has to wait. Yesterday was one of those days for me. I spent the morning walking, petting the cat, finding flow creating some interesting foods from very basic foods (potatoes!) and asking the neighbors over for drinks and laughs.
Just simple stuff. But that's what I needed. Every time they make me feel more centered and calmer.
Here's a note to my (and maybe your) overwhelmed self in the future:
Walking - Clarity
Petting a cat – Calm
Creative cooking - Flow
Social connection – I belong
This is all so important when we are figuring out how to protect our brain health and wellbeing. Back to basics. It's a great place to be.
